It was a substantial win over several genuine forms of tyranny, and over those who are blind to all but the false forms. Reason is resuscitated from a long coma.
Yes I'm glad we got to see John McCain prevail over his own shadow to make 1 quality appearance to close his execrable campaign. I envy those who didn't closely follow this pale man and his parody of a running mate. You can more easily wave off the potential shadow that almost duplicated its feat of 8 years ago.
And Obama, he'll do fine so long as Congress doesn't try to help too much. He's got enough brain and gut and balance to make a good captain, and by his side the real woman from this race (the only one who deserved our vote). He'll navigate by the right stars.
I really don't think of him as a black president, it's just too facile to suffice. He has the stuff of Lincoln. He's our first 21st century president. He is the first post-partisan and post-baby boom leader, hallelujah to both. All his skin color represents is an amalgam of today's average 3rd grade classroom... which is vital for this young generation that could have come to consciousness in an America that had forgotten itself.
Instead the crowds have woken the thing up, probably in the nick of time. Our lungs are still needed to breathe life back into it.

Beautiful prose. Well said.
Our lungs are still needed to breathe life back into it.
Brilliant. That's exactly it.
Obama, he'll do fine……. yes
And, the real woman from this race…… yes.
Excellent review of the rise we all held our breath for,
and now we can breathe:)
Thank you,
pj
The way I'm putting it is:
WE got elected.
Yeah, I thought both speeches were awesome, Obama absolutely stunning because no notes, no memorizing, and it was longer ! Had never heard him talk before except a few seconds on the radio.
So now WE gotta occupy our office and do our thing !!
Thanks for your thoughts !!
Blessings, OM Bastet
I completely agree. Obama has the abillity to make numerous things happen as long as there isn't intergovernment fighting. However, I am scared for his safety. There have been numerous threats and several attempts at his life and I hope that he is given the same respect that we would expect from any other candidate. This is a milestone election in American history, and I hope it is one to be remembered as the catalyst of change for the future and the broadening of horizons for all people.
Thanks for this lovely prose. He did put our breath back in that has been missing and breaths in new life worth surviving into an upward spiral.
